Polymer clay haul

My order from The Clay Station arrived yesterday *yay* The Kato clay samples are really tiny! Not sure yet what I’m going to make out of them. I’m thinking of creating color charts first but that will wipe out the clay. Hmm …

There and back again

umbilical cord blood cell

Panda and friends reached home at around 12.45am last night (or this morning). Two of the guys stayed at our place and all three of them were still sleeping when I left for work this morning.

Panda told me that his buddies were very nice and helpful to him up there. Guys, thanks for taking care of my Panda! I really really appreciate that. And although he didn’t reach the summit, I’m still very proud of him for going there and back again, and most importantly, for making the decision to call it quit up there. As my sister put it nicely:

The sign of a good adventurer is when he knows when to turn back

How true. So congratulations for all 4 of you! And welcome home :)

Home alone

flash my brain

Panda and the gang left for the mountain early this morning. I nearly jumped out of my skin when he called me at 5.30am. Once they reached the mountain, there will be no handphone signal although I’m very sure the rangers there must have a phone (they can’t be communicating using semaphore, can they?). But probably they charge exorbitant price for it.

So here I am, alone at home with just the radio. Yes, I do have cable TV but one thing I really hate about being home alone is whenever I turn on the TV, suddenly all channels are running horror movies. In the end I’ll sleep with the living room lights on. Bah!

How I wish I didn’t have to go to work this week. :(

Why God created children

This is something that I never get tired of reading

WHY GOD CREATED CHILDREN (AND IN THE PROCESS GRANDCHILDREN)

To those of us who have children in our lives, whether they are our own, grandchildren, nieces, nephews, or students…here is something to make you chuckle. Whenever your children are out of control, you can take comfort from the thought that even God’s omnipotence did not extend to His own children.

After creating heaven and earth, God created Adam and Eve. And the first thing he said was “DON’T!”

“Don’t what?” Adam replied.

“Don’t eat the forbidden fruit.” God said.

“Forbidden fruit? We have forbidden fruit? Hey Eve…we have forbidden fruit!!!!!”

“No Way!”

“Yes way!”

“Do NOT eat the fruit!” said God.

“Why”

“Because I am your Father and I said so!” God replied, wondering why He hadn’t stopped creation after making the elephants. A few minutes later, God saw His children having an apple break and He was ticked!

“Didn’t I tell you not to eat the fruit?” God asked.

“Uh huh,” Adam replied.

“Then why did you?” said the Father.

“I don’t know,” said Eve.

“She started it!” Adam said

“Did not!”

“Did too!”

“DID NOT!”

Having had it with the two of them, God’s punishment was that Adam and Eve should have children of their own. Thus the pattern was set and it has never changed.

BUT THERE IS REASSURANCE IN THE STORY! If you have persistently and lovingly tried to give children wisdom and they haven’t taken it, don’t be hard on yourself. If God had trouble raising children, what makes you think it would be a piece of cake for you?

THINGS TO THINK ABOUT!

1. You spend the first two years of their life teaching them to walk and talk. Then you spend the next sixteen telling them to sit down and shut up.

2. Grandchildren are God’s reward for not killing your own children.

3. Mothers of teens now know why some animals eat their young.

4. Children seldom misquote you. In fact, they usually repeat word for word what you shouldn’t have said.

5. The main purpose of holding children’s parties is to remind yourself that there are children more awful than your own.

6. We childproofed our homes, but they are still getting in.

ADVICE FOR THE DAY: Be nice to your kids. They will choose your nursing home one day.

AND FINALLY:

IF YOU HAVE A LOT OF TENSION AND YOU GET A HEADACHE, DO WHAT IT SAYS ON THE ASPIRIN BOTTLE:

“TAKE TWO ASPIRIN” AND “KEEP AWAY FROM CHILDREN”!!!!!

It’s confirmed!

I’m gonna be an aunt, or an uncle depending if it’s a boy or a girl

Congratulations to the happy couple! Oooh .. this is so exciting! My cousins have few kids but this is totally different. This is my own niece/nephew. Mine! *bwahahaha* Well, looks like we’re gonna fly there again next summer. ;)

What’s been happening lately

Lots of things.

  • First, I received truly very good news last night. But can’t tell anyone yet about it. Argh! The wait is killing me!
  • Not so good news on our PR application. We need deadline extension and so far the immigration folks choose to ignore my email. Sent another email earlier today.
  • My boss offered a promotion few weeks ago but I rejected it. Got surprised looks from some people but I have my own reasons (not all of which approved by Panda btw).
  • Even without promotion, I can’t go home from work on time for the past couple of weeks. Today is a rare day when I have some room to breathe *whew*. This is definitely not good.
  • Our team has been kicked out from our desks and we have to move to another floor. Suspect we will be kicked out again if someone need the space in the new place. *sigh* Talk about feeling unwanted.
  • My driving test is only 2 weeks away and I’m scared to death.
  • Panda is climbing Mt Kinabalu this weekend. Go Panda!

Way to go, Sooty!

This is one hell of a lucky little fella
