Random Thoughts #1

I have a lot of things to say today but they are mostly random, hence the title. Heck, my thoughts are always random anyway. At least on most of the days.

I swear all the cleaners in my office are some sort of secret agents, lurking around to get all the juicy gossips and precious information from us, unsuspecting employees. Each time I visit the toilet (which is quite often thanks to gallons of hot water I have to drink to make myself warm), there will be at least one of them inside wiping the sink, moping the floor, changing toilet papers, or flirting on the phone. Come on, how many times can you clean a toilet in a day?

Few weeks ago I received news that I’d be taking over some projects from a guy who’s leaving the company. No big deal, I thought, more responsibilities means they will most probably extend my contract. And that’s a good thing, right? I was also told the guy is planning a handover process where he’d explain about the projects and guide me until he leaves at the end of this month. Well, the handover ‘process’, I just found out, turned out to be going through the application half-heartedly while saying I could read all about it in the paltry user guide, shooting a lot of are-you-stupid or what-are-you-talking-about looks at my questions, and assuring me I have nothing to worry since everything is running smoothly. I believe this is mainly because he was the one who designed the application, the fact that he kept repeating just in case I forgot. Gosh, it would’ve made my day to punch him in the face just once.

Finally I bought a pair of black shoes. Not exactly an interesting event but just for the record, I did it in less than 5 minutes. I’ve been looking for a pair of black pointy shoes with low heels for quite some time. So today, while walking to my bus stop, I decided to drop by a shoe shop and did a quick scan around the shop, ready to be dissapointed again. Then my eyes landed on a pair that perfectly fits my criteria. I didn’t know exactly what happened until I found myself sitting in the bus with a paper bag in my hand, $69 poorer, and a proud owner of a pair of black pointy shoes with low heels :)

When I come across someone who is … aromatically-challenged, I usually put it down as poor personal hygiene. Why on earth his/her loved ones never tell the truth is beyond me. My mom used to dumped me bottles of deodorant to make sure I wouldn’t offend anyone’s sense of smell when I go out. Or perhaps she was just worried that no one would marry her daughter and I’d die alone and lonely. Whatever it is, that’s one thing where honesty is the best policy. At least for everyone who is unfortunate enough to be near the offender, either accidentally or intentionally. Well, mostly accidentally. But lately I have this thought: what if it’s because they don’t have enough clothes that they keep wearing the same one for days? It’s a silly thought but somehow it bothers me. And I don’t know why …
